VIDEO: LT PACT 2007 & WHIR

During Layered Technologies’ partner conference LTPACT 2007, WHIR had the opportunity to sit down with Bert Armijo, VP of Sales & Marketing from 3Tera and ask him some questions about one of the hottest topics during the event: Utility (GRID) Computing.

With 3Tera representing one of the strongest proponents of grid technology in the hosting industry, it was interesting to hear Bert discuss the virtues of utility computing, the company’s new virtual private data center joint offering with Layered Technologies and the next future project for 3Tera.  View video here: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid271557071/bctid1119242626

WHIR Interview with Michael Platner / CEO of Layered Tech: http://www.thewhir.com/blogs/WHIR-TV/index.cfm/2007/6/27/LT-Pact-2007–Interview-with-Michael-Platner

While at Layered Technologies’ second annual partner event LT Pact 2007, I sat down with Michael Platner, the CEO of Layered Technologies, and got his thoughts on the event, what he hoped attendees took away from the conference, his views on grid and utility computing and his belief on why it will become the way of the future.

Layered Technologies Sponsors WordCamp 2007

Layered Technologies, Inc is proud to be a main sponsor for upcoming WordCamp 2007 taking place in San Francisco, CA on July 21-22nd.

WordCamp is a 2-day conference for WordPress users and developers. The first day will focus on how to be a better blogger, the second on the development and future of WordPress.

The first day will revolve around user topics and the second day primarily on developer topics.  WordCamp is one of the largest, interactive, in-person events held in the blogging community and registration is currently full with attendance pushing 500+.

We are proud to be able to further support the efforts of Matt and his team’s initiatives above and beyond the ever changing and growing requirements of the WordPress infrastructure that we provide.

I will be attending and I look forward to networking with the WP community and learning as much as I can at CAMP over the two days.

Layered Tech Demos its VPDC at Web 2.0 Expo

Layered Technologies will be at the show with to present our vision for the Virtual Private Datacenter technology and its likely impacts on the industry.   Please click through to the media advisory.

We came across Tim O’Reilly’s piece in Wired about the Web 2.0 Expo which his organization runs.

Tim O’Reilly: Web 2.0 Is About Controlling Data

“It’s not too late to get on the “web 2.0″ bandwagon, says publishing magnate Tim O’Reilly, who coined the term. And if you’re wondering what it takes to build a web 2.0 startup. O’Reilly has just the conference for you — the Web 2.0 Expo. O’Reilly Media and CMP are co-hosting the conference, which runs April 15 to 18 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco…..One of the big changes at the heart of web 2.0 is the shift from the creation of software artifacts, which is what the PC revolution was about, to the creation of software services. These are services that ultimately, if they are successful, will require competencies of operation, of scale, and the like.”

Note his comment that confirms our strategy of enabling competencies of operation and scale. The Virtual Private Datacenter customers and their innovations will have a huge advantage in the market place because they can put their resources and develop core competence in their applications and appliances without worrying about the underlying infrastructure or scalability. That is the magic sauce of Utility computing which we have actualized. Click through to read the complete piece by Tim.
