CA Announces AppLogic 3.0

This week CA Technologies announced Applogic 3.0. This comes after VMware announced vCloud Director 1.5 and Citrix acquired Cloud.com. This was an exciting month of events for the leading Cloud OS platforms. This is interesting to Layered Tech and our customers because this illustrates the rapid maturing of cloud platform technologies. It exemplifies that these technologies initially targeted to service providers like Layered Tech are also adopting many of the capabilities enterprises are looking for to build out private, hybrid and secure multi-tenant cloud environments.

Unmatched Rapid Server Provisioning from Layered Tech

On average, a customer can now point, click and deploy servers within 30 minutes of payment confirmation.

Layered Tech today launched a fully automated Web hosting platform that dramatically accelerates the availability and provisioning of servers for customers and partners alike.

As a result of the company’s tremendous business growth and heavy investments in R&D, this ground-breaking system will transform back-end processes to speed server deployment in a manner unprecedented in the industry today. 

“Developing this completely automated system was a companywide commitment involving significant financial investment and a year of constant effort from our very talented development team,” said Layered Tech CEO Jack Finlayson.  “Layered Tech has focused on making the right investments at the right time, and this effort fits within that strategy.”

The custom-built platform, nicknamed “Astro,” provides nearly instantaneous server provisioning combined with fully automated configuration, pricing, customer notifications, and billing.  Once a server is racked and powered, Astro automatically evaluates the equipment and populates the Layered Tech inventory, making the server immediately available for deployment.  It also gives customers the option of easily bundling DEFCON Managed Services and other add-ons. 

“Our newly revamped system is truly one of a kind.  First we successfully integrated several disparate back-end systems into a single unified platform – something that truly differentiates us in the industry.  Then we fully automated it,” said John Pozadzides, Layered Tech’s CMO.  “As we fully enable all of the servers throughout our network, our clients will reap the benefits of the world’s most advanced hosting infrastructure.”

Customers can now buy “Rapid Deployment” servers directly through Layered Tech’s Web site  PLUS, a new open API (coming soon!), created by Layered Tech, will allow partners to display inventory and coordinate sales in real-time from their own Web sites.

[New] Completely Revamped Customer Portal from Layered Tech

2009 is finally upon us!  And were we ever busy in 2008 here at Layered Tech: millions of dollars invested in upgrading our ERP infrastructure, to thousands of hours spent developing some amazing new customer support tools.   And now in 2009, we’re beginning to roll out these exciting new initiatives, starting with our overhauled customer portal, Encompass.

ENCOMPASS has been our account management portal for over 3 years.  Minor updates have been made during this time; however, only until NOW (with significant investments made) are we able to “blow it out” and take it to the next level.

WELCOME to our first major update which provides:

  • Fully redesigned dashboard for easy navigation
  • Newly enhanced features and functionality
  • Seamless integration to front-end systems
  • Updated user interface for improved usability

Our new Encompass, which will be in beta for 30 days and run in conjunction with our old system, is a fully functioning cousin of our previous account management portal – only much, much better.  Plus, in the coming weeks, it will get even more features and functionality including:

  • Completely customizable dashboard
  • Full integration of new support ticketing system
  • Ability to upgrade servers and services directly via Encompass
  • Improved help guides and support documentation
  • Option to access Encompass via our iPhone account center using just your iPhone or iPod Touch.

All this and more, scheduled for completion in Q1 of 2009.
