Layered Tech Launches Microsoft Hyper-V

As the first hosting provider to launch dedicated servers running Microsoft Windows 2008 and Hyper-V, businesses now have the ability to leverage the benefits of virtualization on this highly anticipated Microsoft platform

LAS VEGAS, NV: LT PACT CONFERENCE  [June 25, 2008]Layered Technologies, a leading worldwide provider of “on-demand” IT infrastructure, announces today at the third annual LT PACT conference their second major product release this June.  Working in direct conjunction with Microsoft, Layered Technologies is the first hosting provider to launch Hyper-V. Hyper-V, previously codenamed Viridian, is a hypervisor-based technology that is a key feature of Windows Server 2008, and allows virtualization of multiple operating systems (including Windows and Linux) all on the same server. It provides a scalable, reliable, and highly available virtualization platform.

“We are excited to be a part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to provide customers and partners with the best operating system platform for virtualization,” said Jack Finlayson, Chief Executive Officer of Layered Technologies. “We worked closely with Microsoft to be the first hosting providers to rapidly deploy this technology. In bringing virtualization to the market, we are looking to help businesses consolidate resources, reduce support costs, and decrease operations expenses.”

Layered Technologies will provide Microsoft Hyper-V GoLive Beta Program and Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) members with dependable dedicated servers in an on-demand, hosted environment. As a member of the MSDN community or a GoLive Partner, customers will receive an exclusive monthly discount on the Microsoft Hyper-V-enabled hosting packages >>

Layered Technologies’ aggressive goal in being first in the market to offer this technology also includes a managed service offering on the Hyper-V product once it is officially released out of beta (currently scheduled for September 2008). Enabling developers and organizations to utilize virtualization, coupled with managed services, will provide a solution that will mold to any skill set.  This dedicated management services offering, DEFCON Managed Services, will include 24×7 monitoring, technical support, security updates, and expert system administration of virtualization server engineers.

“The mainstream acceptance of virtualization provides a new level of sought-after features for administrators,” said Aaron Phillips, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Layered Technologies. “As the technology has matured, a hosted virtualization offering through our relationship with Microsoft was a natural progression.”

In addition to launching Hyper-V-based dedicated servers, Layered Technologies also plans to make available Hyper-V-based VPS (virtual private servers) within the next two weeks.

Current customers that are interested in the Hyper-V offering from Layered Technologies can visit http://www.layeredtech.com/dedicated-servers/ms-hyper-v.php or email: sales@layeredtech.com.

Layered Tech Preps LT PACT 2008

Article by Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

January 29, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Conferences and exhibitions play a significant role in the hosting industry, helping companies to broaden their market reach and potentially draw in new customers and partners.  But like some other areas of the industry, the market has become saturated with dozens of conferences and exhibitions being held each year, including giants like HostingCon and ISPCON, a challenge for the operators of smaller events.

LT PACT 2008 Hosting EventFor two years, utility hosting services provider Layered Technologies has worked to distinguish LT PACT event as an important consideration among hosting related events.  Though it is held by a hosting company, LT PACT is not strictly self-serving, but is designed to benefit its attendees and the presenting companies within the context of the environment of Layered Tech’s customers and partners, says president and COO Todd Abrams.

“It’s not directly a sales objective for Layered Tech,” says Abrams. “It’s really about broadening the overall knowledge base of the people there, as well as experts of the industry that our clients and partners don’t really get to talk with.”

Returning to Las Vegas, Nevada’s Caesars Palace Resort from June 25 to 27, LT PACT 2008 will offer presentations from industry analysts, key industry players, Web hosts and other leaders, discussing issues that are pertinent to the industry.  The conference, now in its third year, will provide attendees with further industry insights, the ability to interact with new products in workshops and ways to boost their revenue with improved business practices.  Read on >>

VIDEO: LT PACT 2007 & WHIR

During Layered Technologies’ partner conference LTPACT 2007, WHIR had the opportunity to sit down with Bert Armijo, VP of Sales & Marketing from 3Tera and ask him some questions about one of the hottest topics during the event: Utility (GRID) Computing.

With 3Tera representing one of the strongest proponents of grid technology in the hosting industry, it was interesting to hear Bert discuss the virtues of utility computing, the company’s new virtual private data center joint offering with Layered Technologies and the next future project for 3Tera.  View video here: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid271557071/bctid1119242626

WHIR Interview with Michael Platner / CEO of Layered Tech: http://www.thewhir.com/blogs/WHIR-TV/index.cfm/2007/6/27/LT-Pact-2007–Interview-with-Michael-Platner

While at Layered Technologies’ second annual partner event LT Pact 2007, I sat down with Michael Platner, the CEO of Layered Technologies, and got his thoughts on the event, what he hoped attendees took away from the conference, his views on grid and utility computing and his belief on why it will become the way of the future.

LT PACT REVIEW

ltpactphotogallery1jpg1.jpg

June 29, 2007

Dear LT Customers,

Another successful LT PACT event! With over 140 attendees from over 8 different countries… we were highly pleased with the turnout and the quality of content and connections made.

With that, we would like to take this opportunity to “Thank you” for taking part in our Annual LT PACT 2007 Conference. Because of your participation and the support of our amazing sponsors we were able to provide an incredible opportunity of solid learning, quality networking and exciting fun for customers, vendors, media and the like.

With 2 solid days chalked full of valuable information, from amazing speakers like hosting visionary Andy Schroepfer (Tier 1) to presentations on The Future of Computing (AMD) and Grid Computing (3tera) plus highly interactive and relevant panel discussions, all attendees walked away with industry insights plus great new ideas on how to grow their business moving forward.

Of course, at Layered Tech, we believe in having fun (and we have the photos to prove it!). From late night parties, to touring the town (we’re in Vegas – please!) to hosting our very own Texas Hold’em Tournament with winnings of over $2500… our eyes were blood shot and bodies were ragged… but that didn’t stop us from burning the candle at both ends.

As a follow-up to the event, we’d like to invite you to view our blog at:
http://layeredtech.wordpress.com/ where you’ll find our speaker presentations, photos of the event plus a rundown of activities. With that, we’d like to ask you to post your comments on our blog… we’d love to hear from you. Provide us with your take-aways from this years event and what we can do next year to make it even “better then ever” (sorry, no live X entertainment – it’s a corporate event).

Hope to see you again at LTPACT 2008…

Warmest regards,

Karen W. Sesona
