Layered Tech’s Enterprise Migration Services (EMS) provides the ability to move your solution from a current provider to a new dedicated server solution at Layered Tech.
This important service pulls together an assigned team of dedicated server engineers that will evaluate, plan, and execute the migration of your current server to your new server at Layered Tech.
The goal of the Enterprise Migration Services is to fully migrate applications, databases, configurations, and websites in working order to their new site. This process begins with the review of the current setup and then estimates the overall time needed to make the migration happen. Once the process is started, an assigned engineer will work one-on-one with your organization to evaluate your technology, provide ongoing communication throughout the process and complete your migration.
It’s important to note that “enterprise” does not mean "expensive" at Layered Tech. Our Enterprise Migration Services were designed to help new clients easily and affordably move into their new solution while reducing or eliminating downtime. And with thousands of migrations completed in the past 10 years, our Enterprise Migration Team is expert at this process.
Each Enterprise Migration Service is a custom quotation and proposal that is based on the estimated number of hours associated with completing the project. Our teams are experienced in evaluating and executing all aspects of Enterprise Migrations. After the initial phone call and the ability to review your current server, a final project quote will be sent out. This final quote will be the fixed price you pay for your Enterprise Migration, derived from the expected total number of hours that our experienced engineers will need to make it happen. The final proposal you receive will be the final price of the project, with no risk of overages.
A dedicated EMS Engineer will be assigned to your migration from start to finish. Having an assigned migration expert allows the even flow of information and the focus needed to successfully complete the migration process. During the process, you will engage with this engineer via phone, email, and help desk tickets to realize the completion of your server migration. The same engineer that starts your migration will complete it.
Web server settings, software configurations, module installations and database configurations vary from server to server, so transferring data only accounts for about 50% of a true server migration. As opposed to just reviewing a customer’s configuration and size of data to come up with a projected cost, Layered Tech collaborates with the customer to review the server configuration, data and special requirements. This interaction not only provides a more realistic final migration fee, but it identifies potential areas that could need greater attention when performing the migration. This process eliminates common problems with migrating data to a new server, allowing the move to be as seamless and error-free as possible.
Every application that Layered Tech actively supports will be included in supported applications during migration. Some examples are Windows 2003 Standard and Enterprise, CentOS 5.x and RHEL 5.x, cPanel, and Plesk. In addition, Layered Tech supports most open source, common applications (such as MySQL, PHP and Apache) that are current and on our list of supported configurations. Any other applications will be identified and subject to tech approval during the final quote phase. Layered Tech will not offer support for legacy operating systems (such as Fedora Core) or outdated applications. In addition, our tech team can only offer assistance with installing applications that deviate from our standard configurations; however Admin approval must first be obtained. Once again Layered Tech does not provide technical support for any item that we do not offer with our standard list of supported applications.
To begin the process, request a proposal for a dedicated hosting solution that meets your needs. Once this process is underway, ask your Account Manager or Sales Engineer to also include pricing on our Enterprise Migration Services. Direct administrator level or root level access to your server will be required to develop your quotation and proposal. Once this is provided, a project help desk ticket will be generated and sent to our Enterprise Migration Team, who will evaluate your server and schedule a call with you. After the initial call, the final details and pricing will be delivered to your Account Manager, who will generate a proposal. Once your proposal is received, you will be able to process the order online for the execution of your migration. The Enterprise Migration Team will receive notification and will schedule a date and time to complete the project
